Changi Airport Taxis - Fares, Distances and Where to Find Them
The city of Singapore is situated about 20 km from Changi Airport and has excellent motorway connections linking the city with the airport. A typical journey by car will only take around 25 to 30 minutes to reach central Singapore.
The taxi ranks at the airport are located just out side the arrivals halls at the three main terminal buildings. The Budget Terminal will be demolished in the second half of 2012 to make way for a fourth terminal, which will also have a Singapore Changi Airport taxis rank outside the arrivals area.
In Singapore city taxis can be hailed either in the street or booked in advance via the hotel receptionist. It is fairly cheap to travel by taxi between the hotel and the many tourist attractions in the city. Singapore’s legendary nightlife with dance clubs, wine bars, restaurants and live music venues is the perfect excuse to splash out on transport in style.
A typical Singapore Changi Airport taxis trip will cost between S$ 18.00 and 38.00 from the airport to the hotels in the city. All taxi fares are metered, but an additional airport surcharge applies, which is S$ 5.00 during the hours of 5.00 pm to 12.00 am from Fridays to Saturdays and S$ 3.00 at all other times. For taxi rides that take place after midnight the charge is an additional 50% of the final taxi fare, which applies until 6.00 am every day of the year.
Taxis Singapore Changi Airport also provide services for larger groups. There are not just vehicles in the fleet that offer transport to 3- 4 passengers. A limousine service transporting around 7 to 9 passengers in multi-seater vehicles will charge around EUR 60.00 for the single journey from the airport to the city. Additional stops are charged at S$15.00 per stop. Such larger vehicles should be booked at the airport’s Ground Transportation Desks in the arrivals halls.

Singapore attracts in the region of 12 million tourists every year. The city consists of very distinctly different cultural districts, where the Chinese, Malay, Arab and Indian populations have their roots.
The area around Orchard Road is the main shopping district of Singapore city. Here tourists will find the major shopping centers and hotels. Some of the city’s major tourist attractions can easily be reached by bus, train or by taxi, as they are fairly centrally based.
Singapore Zoo and Night Safari are two popular tourist draws. The latter enables visitors to discover African, American and Asian animal habitats at night without there being any detectable barriers or fences between them and the wildlife they’ve come to see.
Singapore Botanic Gardens are another favourite with tourists. The stunning flower displays and exotic plant life on 74 hectares of grounds can be enjoyed from 5.00 am in the morning to midnight every day and entrance is free, except for a visit to the National Orchid Garden, where some of the world’s rarest orchids are on show.
The architecture in the city ranges from colonial such as the Raffles Hotel, which is a national monument, to historic Chinese and Malay temples, stunning in their colourful exuberance. Hiring a taxi for a couple of hours or even a half day is not a bad idea, as it allows an overview of all the wonderful places one might wish to see during a stay.
